Paramount Academy of Music has struck a chord with both students and professionals in Los Angeles. Like a great hit record, it’s creating the right sound at the right time.
Much has been made in recent years of the benefits, and veritable necessity, of music education. However, arts programs in schools continue to suffer cutbacks, and parents often must seek outside sources to supplement their children’s needs.
Yet choosing the best source, one that offers expert instruction that also carries applicable contemporary skills, is generally a trial and error process…But it’s a process that just got easier.
Independently owned by Marisa and Rodger Gariano, PAM has put together an impressive roster of energetic instructors, all of which have spent as much time onstage as in practice rooms- and continue to do so. Collectively, they have worked with a laundry list of prominent names in the industry, such as Melissa Etheridge, Guns N’ Roses, Colbie Caillat, Ronnie Wood, Avril Lavigne, Sean Kingston, and many more.
Not content to merely “teach kids to play music”, PAM strives to develop its young students into mature, well-rounded musicians. Employing a unique curriculum created by Music Director Carl Restivo, teachers guide their pupils through weekly one-on-one lessons, which include exposure to all genres of music and music theory. In addition, digital recording lessons, songwriting lessons, a group performance program, and signature music workshops are all offered: Paramount has instruction to fit every student and every schedule.
All PAM programs are designed for students aged 10-17, who will not only become skilled players on their instruments, they will be encouraged to create their own music and images and forge their own paths. With these abilities often come increased self-esteem, improved social skills, and greater academic performance.
